Arranging a Funeral

We are sorry that you have to make an enquiry about funeral arrangements and we hope that we can support you in whatever way is possible

We are involved in many funerals; some in the Church followed by a burial or a cremation

and some at a crematorium

Alongside our Pastoral Workers we have a team of bereavement visitors who offer pastoral care

for those who have been bereaved

Twice a year we have special bereavement services, a traditional All Souls' Service in the Autumn

and a service earlier in the year to which we invite all those who have been bereaved during that year.

In these services we will be remembering in particular those who died in this past year and all those who are no longer with us but who have touched our lives.

Funeral Directors and Undertakers in Sheffield

Please note that this list is not exhaustive and that St Mary’s – Ecclesfield is unable to
make recommendations.

The guide below might be helpful in finding a Funeral Director

Ensure that the Funeral Directors concerned are members of a recognised trade
association NAFD or SAIF. These logos should be clearly displayed on
documents, brochures or in premises.

Think about the type of funeral service you might want and ring round several

Funeral Homes to obtain competitive prices.

You should also ensure that you are comparing "like for like" services before
inviting your chosen Funeral Director to call.

Many Funeral Directors companies are owned by regional or national concerns.

Do make sure that you are not ringing several branches of the same company and
receiving the same price.

You should ask how much the coffins cost and try to get an accurate description,
preferably from a colour coffin brochure, so that fair comparisons can be made.
